Default JL M770s... Now what?

I took the plunge and bought a new set of SBD Loud Daddy Lids and JL M770's. Thanks Bagger Bill... I'm piecing together a system over the winter months and this was the first piece.. Next up amp and fairing speakers.. Was thinking the BT 4180 amp or Arc Motto 600.4... Found a good price on a JL XD400/4V2 ... Don't want to go multi amp as I already went over budget on the lids and JL speakers. Suggestions for the amp?... I like the simplicity of the BT4180 Also suggestions on fairing speakers that would be a good match for the JL's. Thanks..experts.

if I were doing only 1 amp right now I'd be only looking at the Diamond 800.4

I'm running 2 amps, TM400x2 to a set of DD VO's and some B3's. Then a JL 280/4 bridged to my M770's. It's pretty loud and clear @80+ on the highway which is exactly what I wanted

I agree with bunker. If you are only using 1 amp, then 600watts is the minimum wattage amp I would buy. I like the Arc moto as I told you, because of it's output and it fits in a batwing fairing. I have heard great things about Diamond, but have not personally used one. Also not sure of the size of the 800.4. You can never go wrong with a JL amp, but the 400 is not big enough and 600 won't fit in your 2015 fairing. Maybe someone will correct me on this point, but I haven't seen it. As far as fairing speakers, I like the Hertz Mille. But you are going to get a lot of different answers on here about that. Good luck with the build! Your speakers and lids will ship today. You now have my number, so feel free to call me anytime!

From what I read the Diamond HXM800.4D put out 170w in a dyno test. Here's a pic if the 800.4 installed in a Rushmore fairing. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't fit on the BAB amp tray for 2013 and down.

The Diamond HXM 800.4 will fit in the rushmore batwing. The JL 600/6 will also fit in the Rushmore faring using the J&M amp bracket.......it is extremely tight but we have installed them at the shop a couple of times.

Bert - where did you read about the dyno? ui cannot find it.
I am a bit disappointed in the 120W at 4ohm

from the ones we have tested( not major just a few small tests here and there) it averages out to roughly 20 to 25 percent more than rated power dynamic. At I spoke to diamond and even they are aware of this under rating they themselves admit it will do more than rated

if someone sends me one, I will test it (same as in bench test sticky).
for the winter I might consider doing a batch of amps (there are quite a few new ones out there now) but would need peoples/fellow forum members help (aka "their" amps!).
when the time is there I will start new thread...

bike upgrade - currently too busy to really dig into it...
