Default Install a Daymaker Headlight in a 1984 FXRT Sport Glide

I am updating a 1984 FXRT and am thinking about installing a Harley brand Daymaker headlight. Based on the little I know it is likely going to require some modifications to make it fit.

I am wondering what the modifications are and how difficult they are to make. If anyone has already installed a Daymaker headlight in their FXRT can you please let me know what it took to make it fit?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I put one on the Sportster. The unit is too long to fit the bucket as it comes. It has a whole lot of cooling fins on the back side. I cut most of them off (SHOCK), rearranged the wiring in the bucket a bit, moved the flasher module, which was replaced with a solid state one anyway, and it is all fitting now. Been fine for several years. The other option that I didn't think of at the time is that I think the newer bikes have an extension piece that goes between the bucket and the headlight. It is longer than just the regular rubber ring. That might give enough clearance. I didn't find these extensions until after I had installed it, so I haven't explored that possibility further.

Don't have a link. It was just an observation from looking at newer bikes.

Aren't the new Sportsters 5-3/4"? Look at one of those.
