Does anyone here know if a K&N part number KN-171B oil filter fits the M8 motor?
not sure..but why use anything other than OEM, especially under warranty...you can't really improve upon OEM in general imo, they are designed to do the job well
I like the nut on the K&N filters, K&N has always made a quality filter I've never had any problems with.
yes, that K&N filter will work. i have used it on my M8. I also like the nut on the end of the filter. Make the job easier. I prefer it over the Harley filter.
I've yet to read anything regarding anyone having a problem with their chosen oil filter, or oil, or spark plugs, or air filter, or......................
From the research I have done the K&N and the HD filters are both made by Champion. In one search a guy who said he worked for Champion claimed the HD filters were better quality. He said their specs were the most exacting of any they made. Take it for what its worth.

I believe K&N started outsourcing their oil filters offshore in 2013. They have two facilities, Mexico & Thailand. The motorcycle filters are now supposedly made in Thailand.... of course, K&N brags they are still made to K&N specs...
I think the air filters are the only American made K&N product anymore...

Thanks for the info. Others can do what they want. But I decided a long time ago to stick with OEM oil filters for everything. Biggest reason being that the pressure relief valve is set to a specific value for the OEM filters. If you buy something else it may or may not be the correct value. Why chance it?
