Default Question on your Riding RPM on the M8

Since people ride different, lets get to know what RPM range you really ride in most of the time on your M8. 3000 RPM in 6th gear is 80 MPH so for cruising out on most highways I would assume most of you are running between 2500 - 3000 RPM while in 6th gear. So let's hear what people are doing. I know once in a while we all run it up through the gears but I am asking about normal riding day in day out, which is what most of us use a HD touring bike for.

For me the answer is most of the time, I'm running from 1800 RPM up to 3500 RPM with the bulk of the time spent in the 2000 - 3000 RPM range. Let's hear from you

Interesting question. On my twin cam I was normally between 2,000 - 3,000 RPM range. On my M8 I am normally between 3,000 - 4,000 RPM. Not sure why.

I try to spend as little time as possible South of 3000 rpm's...and probably 80 % of the time between 2800 - 4000...but every ride I wind er' up at some point because I like the rush

On thmy M8 I am currently staying right at 3k at all speeds, it seems to really like that RPM on my CURRENTLY stock 107. I do know on my old TC 103 I rode it much diffently after the Andrews Cam install as it "liked" a specific rpm range. I think every bike has a sweet spot dep ding what mods and tune you are running.

I can see this free flowing engine liking a higher RPM than the twin CAM as it winds up very quickly and is smoother than all other bikes I have had except the VRod.

On the interstate, I set my cruise at 3000 RPM, about 80 mph.

Flat straight roads I'm right around 25~2700 rpm, in town 23~2500. Running the twisties in the hills 26~3300 RPM.

I like to play on the twisty mountain roads around the Smokey Mountains most the time. So 26~3300 rpm.

I haven't really pushed this bike much and probably won't until after the 1k service but I am usually between 2,700-3,000 RPMs it seems. I don't intentionally try to ride in that RPM range but whenever I happen to look at the RPM gauge, that's where the needle is.

3k RPMs does seem to be a happy range for this motor.

I'm most comfortable in the 3k range at cruising speeds. Sounds right. Feels right.

I have noticed that my RPM's are running a bit higher per MPH than that of my previous three Twin Cam bikes.

BUT to note my M8 speedometer in spot on with GPS as opposed to the TC's. All of the TC's have displayed 5 to 8 MPH more than they were really going.

Either way, this is the best HD experience I have had in ten years of new new TC's. Knock on wood....
