What does the KBB or NADA say for your area, year, model, mileage and condition.

seems very fair to me. I've bought and sold a couple of Sportys in the last few years and that looks like a nice one.

That price is avg retail, kind of got to go with bike condition around here. I am sure the price can be adjusted.
I am looking for a fun bike when I dont want to take the Ultra out.

that will be a very fun bike to rip around on when you're in the mood for it, I enjoyed the ones we had.

Looks like they're willing to negotiate a bit which is a plus. I'm guessing you could easily knock that down a few hundred.

That is what I was thinking, I have a FLHTK, nice bike love it, but a little cumbersome if you just want to go out and let some steam off.
Going to see tomorrow, will make him an offer.
Thanks for the reply.

It's a 2005, which is the second year for the rubber mounted engine. That also means it is a carburated engine. My last sporty was an 06, and it was a cold blooded animal. It had to be hot to run right. I had the carb jetted and it was still a rough running bike until completely warmed up. Just food for thought.

In my opinion (and we know what that is worth), It is overpriced by about 1k. Several reasons I say this. It is carburated, not fuel injected. It is 12 model years old. It is a sportster (not knocking them-I loved my sporty's). It's winter. The person selling wants the bike gone so he/she doesn't have to store it for the winter.

I would low ball them at 3k, all in $100 bills. Can only go up, not down. And you can always walk away. It's not like there is a line of people looking to ride right now in New Hampshire.

Good luck with your decision.

As an aside, I also have a 14 FLHTK. I love it, but I agree that it is a big bike just to bang around town. I bought a 12 Slim this year with 432 miles on it for $7500. Cash talks.

I agree it's over priced. It is a custom and they are not in style. It does look clean, check for oil leaks in the air filter (not a problem), oil leak at the base of the cylinders and more likely the rocker boxes (3 gaskets each) that will leave baked on crud on the fins - small $ to fix, and be wary of the clutch - if the clutch drags could cost some $. Sportsters now need mids and fat front tires, and 90% less chrome. I have an 05 1200 and the only problems have been caused by dealer mechanics and a blonde in a pickup truck. I have over 50k miles and I'll probably buy a 05-06 custom starting at $3.5k and going to $4k if has it PO nk pin stripe or a white paint job, is bone stock and has less than 5k miles.

Some things to help knock down the price, potential replacements of tires, brakes pad, flush the brake fluid, new battery, oil/air change. All that is easily over $1k st a dealer.
