Recommendations on a disc lock...
I'm headed to Vegas which may just be the bike theft capitol of the country and feeling a tad uneasy. Will be staying at the Flamingo for a couple of nights and don't know what the parking situation is actually going to be.
I plan on parking in the most secure location available and locking the forks {obviously}. Ideally there may even be something I can attach a very heavy duty cable lock combo to and I am ready to buy a disc lock/alarm.
Recommendations??? I know most folks just ignore alarms but hopefully the security at a first class casino will be a bit more attentive to their task. I'm thinking I will want to place the disc lock on the rear, lock the forks and cable lock the front end to something substantial. The bike {2010 Dyna SG), has no built in alarm.
What disc/alarm {if any}, do you folks recommend and why? I sure the low life's are looking for M8's and other newer more expensive bikes than mine but would hate to lose what has been the best bike I've ever owned.

I don't post much, but it is a good idea on doing what you have said. I put my disc lock on the rear wheel when I'm in an untrusting area instead of the front. I figure if they want it bad enough they will make some noise which may bring attention to them or / make them work for it. My thoughts, is if it's somewhat difficult then they will move on and not spend the time, my two cents.

My disc lock came with a red coil cord to attach to grip so you don't forget to take it off. I used to put a padlock on the rear disc on my previous bike. You don't wanna forget to take it off. It will tear up whatever it hits and wedge itself between whatever it can. Not too fun. Yeah I did it, LOL. Had to rock the bike back and forth to get it unwedged. It did more damage to the frame (rigid paughco, kick only 113" evo hotrod magazine cover bike) than it did to the lock or the rear disc. This was 20+ years ago and alcohol was allegedly involved.

I like the new ABUS lock. Might be time to upgrade from the old "grenade" lock. I've always locked the rear disc like others have stated, and I tried to leave one morning and forgot about it like a few others have done. Ruined my rear rotor, caliper mounts, etc. Needless to say, I got one of those cord reminder thingys now =)
