What mileage do people get from their EVOs?
I am getting low 30's. But that is a lot of short trips around town and a lot of time ilding warming up. I am thinking that I would get close to 40 on long mellow cruising rides. But I have not tested it.
On the other hand, I could see myself getting less than 30 with aggressive riding.
Really mostly an academic question. But it would be nice to know for planning longer trips. I am planning to take a ride to Tuscaloosa (600 miles each way). I would probably ride 100 mile legs so I would not really push the limits.

Before mods with no windshield I got 45-48 mpg.
Now I run a windshield all the time and I have some mild engine work. I am kind of disappointed with my mpg usually being in the low to mid 30's. It is not the cost, but is the reduction in range that bothers me. I typically have to flip to reserve at 150 miles with the OEM petcock and stock tank. I used to get at least 200 miles before reserve.
I don't like to criticize people's riding because I don't know their circumstance, but I hope that is a typo that you are only doing 100 mile legs not to push the limits. That is less than a tank of gas and probably an hour and a half riding.

When starting, stop idling it for so long! Contrary to what we sometimes read, it isn't necessary to do so. I've owned my 1990 bike from new and only ever sit on it, start it, set the 'choke' **** and ride off. It's more important to ride easy for the first few miles and not wack the throttle open IMHO. That approach has worked for me on many bikes for more than 50 years!

'94 FLSTN, stock motor, Kerker 2 into 1 pipes and Mikuni carb. I average 42-48 MPG with a windshield. Back when I had the Keihin CV carb and gas didn't have alcohol in it, I averaged around 50 MPG.
This is assuming a cruising speed of 55-60 on the highway (how I usually travel). Push it up to 70+ and mileage drops quickly.
