2005 sportster 1200 custom keeps dying when I ride it
I have a 2005 sportster 1200 custom and it idles fine when I start it up and once it's warmed up I try and take off and after a couple seconds the bike sputters out and dies. Any ideas what this could be, really need help since this is my only form of transportation
Need more info than that, will it restart after it dies?, what position is your choke in when it dies?, if you pull the clutch in when it's sputtering does it rev up again or still die?
If it was an 03 or earlier Sporty with the ignition module mounted on the motor I would agree, but for 04 & up, the module is under the seat and heat related issues with the module are almost unheard of.

Have you checked for Diagnostic Trouble Codes?
If you don't know how, there's a Sticky thread at the top of this section.

If it starts it's not spark may be fuel I'd take pit **** valve off ,drain tank, clean filter add new fuel take a gamble??
Sorry, that's just not true. The coil and CKP sensor are both part of the ignition system exposed to heat from the motor and have been known to fail due to heat.
with out more info this is a shot in the dark, but a gummed up bowl (with gas residue) will idle but will not handle a load due to insufficient fuel to the plug .
have had a few dirt bike that needed the carb rebuilt due to fuel gum up . they would idle but die right after I shifted and attempted to apply gas via the throttle
