Default question for lawyers or ins. agents...

This is coming more sooner than later. An automunous (self driving) car turns left in front of a motorcyclist severely injuring the cyclist. Who gets sued for injuries and damage to property. After some reading various articles the cars are being programmed to protect the passenger/s in the auto car. So when you a car with all the sensors and rotating I/R mirrors on it WATCH OUT!

Ok, let's just say the nut behind the wheel. He's the one ultimately responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle.....

I'm betting all parties will get sued and the party with the deepest pockets will be named first.

Given the choice, I'd rather take my chances with the self driving cars than the distracted drivers that cluelessly motor around.

Unfortunately, we probably won't have a choice. We'll get to deal with both.....

Driverless Google cars have already hit bicycles in San francisco. The state of ca revoked the registrations and kicked them out of the state.
They are now being tested in Phoenix.

I still think there are ethical issues that need to be addressed for fully autonomous operation. And I would never want to be involved in their design. All of the operation is determined by the software programming. So, how about the following scenario? A kid runs in front of the car, but if the car slams on the brakes it will get rare dead by a dump truck. So, the car runs over the kid.

The lawyers subpoena the software design, and prove the car was pre designed to kill the kid. In front of a jury...can you say deep pockets?

You completely missed the premise of the question twice.
