Default Full Size King Tour-Pak on a Softail?

Anyone running a full size or chopped King Tour-pak like those on the touring models? [i.e. not the leather trunks]

I'm planning to mount one using a quick release and looking for any and all input. I prefer the sheet metal style mounts to the welded tubing; how sturdy are they? Any issues running a fully loaded pak with passenger? Photos would be greatly appreciated; especially any 2014+ packs.

Thanks in advance.

I had the older one set up for my 03 Heritage Springer for a couple long rides.

It provided excellent storage, however the softail suspension is farther forward than the touring bikes. If you overload the tour pak, weight is uneven and too far to the back. I had a wheelie feeling and made the front end very light...

Thanks. How much weight did you have in the pack. Also, what kind of mount did you use?

I had it loaded and an extra bag on the luggage rack. I used the detachable HD softail rack for tour paks. I can find the part number.

I made a rack to work on my breakout. So far no issues, but still trying to figure out the wiring

I have about a 2/3 size one also on the quick release rack. Very hand on vacation, plus it only takes a second to take the ugly thing off. Loaded up you can tell the extra weight is there tho.

Did you guys have to drill any holes for the mounting plate or did they bolt right up?

I had to drill holes in the tour pak. The pak was about $60 new on eBay. They had them in black or white.
