Default EFI to Carb Conversion-Won't Start

1996 FLHTC
57K miles
New coil & plugs
Electronic Ignition Module from '98 FXD (carb)
VOES installed
New battery
1.5 gal fresh fuel in tank
New Pingel petcock
Mukuni HSR 42 carb

Just finished up converting the bike from EFI to Carb. Crank to start and get backfire and that's as far as its gets.

Any suggestions????

For ***** and giggles, swap the wires at the coil. How many electrical terminals on the coil, 2 or 3?

How did you wire the ignition module into the main harness?

After getting all the EFI wing harnesses off there only remained (2) plugs, main harness large black plug (EIM) with (7) wires and the smaller gray plug with (6) wires. Followed service manual wiring diagrams. Some where in there is the VOES under the tank. I can't remember now how the VOES connected in but its connected.

ok. I would first check for spark, then check to make sure that the wires from the ign module are connected to the main harness correctly. Are you sure that you can use the same cam position sensor?

You need 4 things to run a (gasoline) motor: Gas, spark, timing (spark at the right time) and compression. You're missing at least one of them. I would GUESS it would be spark and/or timing related. If you have spark, put a timing light on it and see when it is firing.

1-Ok we have spark.
2-Double checked the black & gray plugs and they only connect one way and there secure.
3-No I'm not 100% sure if the EFI CAP needs to change but the wiring diagram doesn't indicate any notation between CAP EFI and Carb. Also research before starting this no one mentioned like "YO make sure you change the cam positioning sensor or reset timing when you switch from EFI to carb"...
4-Timing..bike ran fine prior to swap. I don't have a timing light and similar response as #3...

I've knocked out 95% of wiring bull$hit switching from EFI to carb. There's not much wiring now coil, EIM, CAP

I used a EIM (part#32449-95A) from a 1998 FXD carb I had and sold. The part number matches up as being a match for the 96 FLH but its been sitting in a box for the past 5 years????

Everything thing energizes up ok on the bike, it cranks, got fuel to the carb and backfire
