Default Rattle can apes

Anyone out here have any experience painting Apes with a spray can? I picked up a set of todd's cycle apes for pretty cheap that had some chipped powder coating. I stripped them down and laid down some primer no problem. once I started with the 4th coat of Rustoleum black I have just been getting nothing but runs. any advice would be helpful, otherwise they're about to go on CL or the classifieds page haha.

Sand with 800-1000 grit until the runs are smoothed out, respray.

OR: strip them down and take them to a PC shop. Won't charge much to do a set of bars.

Hard to beat powder coat, I am lucky to have a local guy. He does great work at a reasonable price.

Forget it and get powdercoat. It should only cost $30-40.

Drop them off at the local PC shop. I rarely paint something that I can drop off for PC.

+1 on powder coating. I've had lots of wheels and other parts done over the years, it is far superior to paint.

Sanding as stated will fix your problem if PC is out of your budget. The trick to rattle can paint jobs is lots of light coats and keep the can at least 12" away. The runs are from thick coats or having the nozzle way too close. You can make the rattle work, just need patience. But, PC is 100% better. Good luck.

Thanks for the tips dudes, The local PC wants close to 150$ so im sticking to the can. sand them back down last night when I got off duty and re blasted them. put on a few coats about 20 min apart. checked them this morning before I left for work and looked like the paint was laying pretty flat so im pretty happy about that. any tips on how to do the clear once my base gets set up?

$150.00 for a set of bars is ridiculous. My place charges about $60.00.
