Pain between the shoulder blades
Nope it's not a heart attack, but the handle bars on my RK. I upgraded from a Sportster to a RK and glad I did. But, I get a pain between the shoulder blades that I never had with the Sportster.
Do I need different bars, or a different position of the existing bars? Suggestions welcomed.
By the way the RK is a 2012 and has stock bars.
In advance, thank you.

I have had beach bars and now 14 inch apes.
The beach bars were ok, no pain at all. But slow speed steering was a issue...small issue.
I put the apes on this winter so still new.....but it is different. Riding the twistes is a improvement. I feel the need for a driver backrest now.
Maybe try some cheapo 10 inch apes....stock cables should work.

Couldn't have been said better. Stock bars, especially on a Road King are terrible. I had a salesman actually tell me that it was his personal belief that the MOCO purposefully makes all of their bikes uncomfortable so we buy replacements accessories.
I agree with an earlier post on the Heritage style bars made for the Road King. Reasonably priced and don't require any cable or wiring changes. I still had to drop them as low as they would go to bring them close enough to me to be comfortable.
Good luck.

I actually loved my Stock 2012 Road King bars.. the one thing I noticed immediately was that it made my posture better while riding, forcing me to sit upright and not slouched.. I never noticed any back pain but we're two different people. Maybe you just need to get used to them.
I miss that bike..
