Default Louisiana to South Dakota for sturgis

This year a friend and myself or going to ride to Sturgis from south Louisiana some say it's too far to ride that we should trailer but we think that's half the fun , riding the bikes up there . I hope we aren't wrong !

You may know this, but.... chatting with an older guy under a bridge in a downpour near Lafayette back in the 90s, i asked how he did those trips to Sturgis and Florida. "Smoke breaks. Once you get stiff and sore, it ain't no good."
You have to figure your own need. I find even a get off, walk around the bike once or twice, stretch my back, blood back in the butt...just a minute or two helps a lot. I do every hour or so. Alternate stretch stop, gas stop. Greatly increased comfort level after a 5 to 700 mile day.
Wave at my folks in New Iberia on your way out!!

You won't regret it. Been everywhere in the USofA. Take your time, enjoy the views, make sure you got good rain gear. Drive when you feel like and stop when you want. Dont take too much clothing, there's always a Walmart around the corner. Have fun.

It is not too far to ride unless you make the mistake of thinking you are going to travel the same distance per day that you would in a cage. It will be a wonderful trip and experience as long as you have the time set comfortably so that you can allow for some flower sniffing, sight seeing, break stops and time for incidentals like down pour rain and such.

It is not too far of a ride. Bring rain gear, get an early start to each day and you'll be fine. I rode out in '15 from NJ and the stories from the ride out will always be something I remember.

It's not too far at all - it's only about 200 miles further than I have to ride to get there. I do it in 3 days. And, you don't want to trailer - the ride out and back are at least 43% of the total fun!

A small group of us from Paris, TX will begin the journey up north on the 5th (Saturday), and beginning the return on the 12th (Saturday). Maybe we'll see you on the way up if you're going to head up I-49.

We generally do a 1300 to 1500 mile each way trip each year. Just figure 3 to 4 days and bring the rain gear.

The wife and I are making the trip from Tucson this year and plan on three days. Stop in Albuquerque 1st night, Denver 2nd. Leave early to beat the heat and afternoon storms.
