Default Hard Candy Chrome paint...

I am in love with the new hard candy chrome flake paint that came out on the 2014 sporty 72, 48 and the breakout. How much could I expect to pay for an aftermarket paint job like that?

I'm sorry I don't have the exact answer for you, but since I bought a '13 Street Bob in Big Red flake I've read a bit about it.

Apparently, it's difficult to lay down the larger flake. I had read it takes 10 man hours, but I'm skeptical of that...either way, I get the idea that it's not easy.

When I had a Sportster, someone quoted me $2k for a similar type of paint, but that had more design work in it.

I've just changed my Breakout order from vivid black to chrome flake
I think it goes great with the black and chrome mix!

Still got to wait til October though

I'm in love with that chrome flake, too. In the 2014 H-D catalog it's best shown on the Softail Breakout on Pages 170-171. Would like to do that to the bottom half of my birch white and midnight pearl (black) Sportie tank, also maybe the left-side electrical cover and the right-side oil reservoir.

I've been spraying a lot of big flake lately. It takes more time and more layers of clear. Price depends a lot on number of colors and the level of details. Message me if you're interested.

i got quoted $1,000 to do a basic single color green metalflake on my sporty tank and fenders, which were immaculate and already removed from the bike. a buddy of mine and i just sprayed .004"-.015" flake thru a primer gun with a 1.8mm tip. took about $120 in materials and 4 hours to scuff the old paint, three coats primer, four coats base, four light coats flake, three coats clear. will still need another hour or two wetsanding and buffing. could do big .025" flake in the same amount of time just need a bigger(2.5mm-ish) tip. don't let body shops fool you. it doesn't take much time at all to do a single color. as for that gold tank, i'd hate to know the amount of time & patience it took to mask and spray all that. kudos for fine work.

also, i hate to post *****, but here's the test panel of what we did in 4 hours:
