Like everyone has said: Thank you for your service.

Since you have the time, start on the list of mods and doing the pricing for those mods so when you get back you can do the mods a little bit at a time or, if the wallet will let you, do it all at once.

Congratulations on the bike and welcome to the Softail forum.

I was able to test ride both in April and made the decision to get the Slim. Since then I have been looking at parts to get the bike the way I want it. I put my down payment on my bike last month and will be picking it up in Oct when I return from Afg. I got about 3 weeks but this waiting game is killing me.
We are in the same boat. But I have not put down a deposit because I have not ridden a Softail but the wait is killing me too. Just a few more weeks. I was at Camp Leatherneck first, now Fenty. Trying to make up my mind if I should take the time to sell my RK or just trade it and be done. Definitely have plenty parts picket out and priced. Safe travels!

Been there, done that, got the t-shirt.

NEVER again will I let go of a bike until the replacement is at hand. Never. Lesson learned. Made it a little over two years without one when life got in the way.

I am going to the dealer with my bike and make an offer as soon as I get back. If terms are good I will ride away on the new Slim. If not I will sell my bike then go back. He still has three 2014 black Slims. Pretty sure I prefer the charcoal which require a couple hrs further drive if I want to ****** a 2014 while they are still around.

I thuoght about doing my mods a little at a time but with the amount I put down I should be able to get everything at once.

Got an email from my dealer yesterday. Bike is at their shop and the stage 1 along with swing arm bag and handle bars will be put on before I pick it up. One week to go till I'm on my Slim.
