Been there, done that myself. I've even taken it from both directions, going over and coming back.

Perfect weather for all 1200 + miles, other than a little smoke from all the forest fires in this area over the last several months. Some fires will not be out until it snows.

Balloo: Was that Hwy 12? I'm trying to find it on Google Maps.

Yeah, it is Hwy. 12. Mostly 40 mph curves for many miles along the Clearwater River that you can take faster. Very little truck and RV traffic the two times I've ridden it. Not many cars either. One of the best rides I've been on. Hwy. 20 (North Cascades) in Washington is right up there, too.
Great steelhead run every November. Would love to fish it, can be very chilly that time of year.

Macafly: I went out over the North Cascades - then across by Sandpoint, ID in to Missoula, back from Lewiston via the Palouse country, then Wenatchee and Stevens Pass home. Had so much fun, want to do it again.
Cheers,

I live about an hour south of seattle... did lolo pass on the way to sturgis last year, was amazing.

I also love the hwy 20 and hwy 2 rides...

last week rode down to astoria and back around on hwy 6 until I got home... same beautiful scenery...

Love this area. The riding season is relatively short, but fantastic when you can get through there.
