Whelen Siren Feedback
I'm retired military, living and riding in the Philippines. Riding a Harley in the Philippines is the ultimate test in defensive driving. Anything that improves the awareness of other vehicles or pedestrians, whether it be lights, loud pipes, or horn is a plus. I'm running a Howard's Horn which is loud in itself, but recently added a Whelen siren.
The Whelen siren is very heavily constructed and durable. It creates many different sounds and can be configured many different ways by changing a set of switches within the unit. I mounted it to the right side of the engine guard and set it on (Air Horn Mode). I wired both the Howard's Horn and the siren to a relay triggered by the stock horn button on the handlebar. The Whelen siren in (Air Horn Mode), creates a deeper tone than the Howard's horn. The combination of the 2 produces an Extremely Loud and noticeable sound that grabs the attention of anyone in the area.
The siren cost me roughly $140.00 bucks but worth the price if it prevents an accident.
