On the Deluxe, because the fork tubes sit into a cavity at the top of the triple trees, you'll have to remove the forks from the bike. Additionally, there is a PVC spacer which must be cut to length. The length of the spacer determines pre-load on the spring and you may have to experiment with different lengths to find that "Sweet Spot". I disassembled and reassembled my Fatboy 4 times to change the spacer length but couldn't get it dialed-in. Finally gave up and installed Progressive's Momo Tubes which I recommend over their Drop-in springs.

A second vote for the monotubes, I have them in my Deluxe and love them. Only a bit more work to install, but no messing with cutting pvc and test fitting....

What's the difference between the monotubes and just the spring kit?

Gas charged dampers versus the old 'open bath' for damping.....

Two questions. Are those monotubes adjustable? Or are they a set height?

And do you still need fork oil when using those ?

Wonder if they make for 49mm tubes. I see they say softails but usually 99% of the time mean only the 41mm softails

I put the progressive front spring kit in. Need to take the forks off...very easy...took an hour to install, not including beer drinking time. Made a huge positive diff. In front end. Best ninety bucks I ever spent and should have done it sooner...

They are not height adjustable - need to order your height - I went with stock.

You do put oil on the existing tubes, but that's more to keep the spring and other parts lubricated and corrosion free - it's not for damping.

I'm very happy with the monotubes - I feel that the hydraulic damping is what makes it so much better than the stock HD arrangement.

The install is as simple as the short instructions that come with the shocks.

Mono tubes in two versions. Stock height or lowered which you can lower between 1-2".
