Default at what temp is it too cold to ride, for you?

i took the bike out yesterday, it was in the 50's and feel like 60 degrees is my low limit for comfort. how do you guys feel about this?

obviously this is subjective and a matter of gear you have. i was half helmet and sweatshirt.

Properly dressed, I can be fairly comfortable behind my windshield down to about 40F. I've ridden as low as 30F, but it's pretty cold. What really ends the season for me is the loss of daylight combined with deer rut season up here. It gets too dangerous to be out after dark and the days are too short.

Bike goes up for the winter once the state starts salting the roads, which can be any day now, depending on the weather.

I'll echo what Uncle G. said; I will ride until they salt the roads, after that I stay off until a couple good rains the next season.

It's amazing what a single pair of heated gloves will do for your overall comfort once temps hit below 40 degrees. I have a Dickies thermal vest I wear under my coat between 40-55 degrees that makes a pleasant ride. The wind chill on my face in this temp range is actually really exhilirating to me. I enjoy it a lot.

I will ride in any temp as long as the roads are dry. Last year, or should I say this year, I rode on New Years day. It was literally 5 degrees!!! I wear chaps, quilted pants, long johns, full face helmet, like I am riding a snowmobile. I made a mistake last winter and forgot to wear heavy socks. I had to go home early because my feet were freezing!!!

This was a winter spin outfit!!!

Used to be able to tolerate 30's but since I turned 60 it seems like it's now 40's.

32 and rising I always say. Get the fleece skull cap and neck gator, fleece lined carhart jeans ( with or without chaps) and some layers up top and I'm good to go. Now, that's on a Fatboy, mind you, with no windshield or anything. JERSEY STRONG !!!!! Oh Yeah...... I have to say that this is one of the reasons I started thinking about a Batwing detachable fairing.....try and improve on the cold day riding experience.

If it's above freezing and the roads are dry I ride for Patriot Guard Missions.

I did ride once for the Patriot guard when it was 15 degrees when the family specifically requested a motorcycle escort. I will not do that again, it was borderline unsafe and I almost got frost bitten.

If it's just to take the bike for a ride, it's got to be above 60 degrees.
For the Wife, she's done for the year because if it's not 70+ she's not into it.

However, I've made it a point that I ride at least once every month.
So here in Nebraska, sometimes in order to do that in Dec/Jan you've got to pack your ***** away for a hour, layer your clothing and hit the road when it's below 60.

It's all relative, in the summer 60 sometimes feels cold, in the fall 60F feels gooda 40F is where i draw the line, temporarily, but in February after a month of 15 to -40F, 32F feels pretty good to an old biker with a serious case of cabin fever. For me I stop at 32F whene there is a risk of ice on the roads.
