Turn Signal recall for 2015-15 Softail Slims
Does anyone know what is up with the turn signal "lamp outage detection" recall that just came out? The recall stats the "Body Control Module (BCM) has an incorrectly programmed setting. Is this the same as the ECM. Why would the BCM care if the front turn signal is burnt out?

I just got a letter today from Harley saying there was a recall on 2014-15 Slims. Below is a quote directly from the letter -
"On some of these motorcycles, the operation of the turn signals will not include lamp-outage detection for the front turn signals due to an incorrectly programmed setting within the Body Control Module (BCM). "
I have no idea what any of that means, so I was hoping somebody on the forum would have a clue.

What years? 2015-15?
No, the BCM (BODY control module) is not the same as the ECM (ENGINE control module). Why would it care? 'Cause that's it's job - to monitor body-related issues. If there's a "lamp outage", it should show an error, alerting you that it's out - a red light on the speedo?
Not having seen the recall, I have to wonder if it's falsely detecting a problem, failing to detect a problem, or if there are voltage regulation issues. Since I have a '13 Slim, I may be affected.
EDIT-
didn't see your response before posting - sorry. So the recall is 2014-15, and the issue is failure to detect a burned out bulb.
Also, didn't mean to project a potentially snarky tone.

Took it in today for the recall. Wasn't in the dealer for more that a half hour. Found out the BCM is what figures out if your bike is upright or not, and it controls the automatic turn signals.
I think it does other stuff too, I just didn't take the time to ask all that.
