Default Question on spark plug gap

So,
on another thread, I am doing a winter build on my 2008 Night Train.
Since I went down to the big city from these mountains I live in, for thanksgiving weekend. I took the opportunity to pick up some exhaust gaskets and spark plugs.
I picked up the standard factory plugs because I am only going to run them this summer, then, hopefully, change out the cylinders to 107's from the 96 engine it is now, come next winter.
So, I get back up here, check the gap out of the box. .30 is what it comes to. I search online, and pretty much only find the nightrider site saying .40.
Ok, I antiseize the new ones, set to .40, and put them in.
For giggles, I checked the old ones coming out of a 7,500 mile engine (likely original). The measured around .34. , or .30 with slight wear.
So, I am sure it runs ok between .30-.40. But, is there advantages to either setting? (longer life, slight power increase. etc)?
What do yall run?
I will be running a heavy breather intake, pipes, and xieds for the summer, if that matters.

Set them to recommended gap. Electronic is usually .038 to .042" but some aftermarkets are different gap.
Some models/iggy systems will use other gaps with various accessories such as exhaust pipes, carb or injection, etc.
Magnetos some times are much closer in gap than most set-ups.

I know it never hurts to check before installing new plugs, but they're usually preset.

The Champions I got a couple months back were preset at 0.030 which I reset to 0.040.
