1993 flstc horsepower boost
hello all, I have a 93 heritage classic. I replaced the stock exhaust with Sampson long shots. My issue is I seem to have lost horse power, not gained it. I did have the factory air cleaner and a K&N air filter. Other than replacing the carb, cam, and heads. What can I do to improve it. Shes a dog! Any help would be appreciated. By the way, how about them 59 caddy tail lamps! I used the suggestion that's on this site. I get lots of compliments!

Well for starters you changed the way the motor functions and did not change the carb setting or jetting. That is why you lost the power. Also you picked an exhaust that looks cool but is not the best at functioning. Rejet your carb and make sure you have an apprpriate size baffle in your pipes to get that feeling back

The pipes came complete with the head pipes. I'm guessing it has baffles cause it's not excessively loud. I'm planning on replacing the factory air cleaner with an S&S old school tear drop one. Do they allow better air flow? After this is installed I'l; bring it to the dealer to have it dyno tuned. Thanks for all your help and any more tips that you know of.

Where did you loose power ( what RPM)??..
Also you prob lost TQ more so than HP. Harley power come from TQ and not HP..
Most ((Not all)) LONG pipes will loose some TQ in the Under 3K rpm's..
As Misfit said.. do a Google search on re-jetting your carb before getting a Dyno. Thinking if YOur carb is set up righteously,, you probably won't need a dyno

Horse power boost
So, I bought an Arlen Ness stage II big sucker air cleaner and a CV performance deluxe tuner kit. I'm hoping this will make a significant difference! Has anyone installed the carb kit. I did watch the video on you-tube. It appears to be something I can tackle. Any tips would be appreciated. The jetting table shows I should use the #46 idle and the #185 main jet. The bike is a 93 heritage 1340 with sampson longshot exhaust. The baffles are in it. I also saw these exhaust cones on line. Has any one used them and would you think they would benefit using them? Thanks all.............

Find an experienced tuner and talk to him before you go any further. Tell him what you want as a finished product, get what you need to get you there then have him Dyno tune it.
Harley has to follow certain rules and guidelines, EPA, blah, blah, blah so you might not get your best tune, find and indy IMHO.
