I had a similar thing happen, except that the other driver did stop, and there were plenty of witnesses. I still have no idea how I managed to avoid hitting him broadside, because I thought it was a sure thing.

It turned out to be a case of "I didn't see him", which is pretty typical in these situations. People become programmed to look out for cars and trucks, and that's what they have the most experience looking out for, so anything else can fail to register.

I have modulating headlights on both bikes now. Tried it on one bike for a year, and it seemed to make such a positive difference that I put one on the other bike too. Really seems to do a good job of getting other driver's attention.

It alternates between high beam and low beam 3 times per second.

About a hundred bucks. Easily turns off when you don't want it, like when riding with a group.

Like I said earlier, I know a girl who lost her left leg while riding. A guy was behind a truck and when he got over the DOUBLE YELLOW lines to pass the truck, the guy in the car says " I didn't see her"! This guy stopped long enough to get her cell phone for her and then once he seen the damage and her leg he took off too.

Having said all that you are so lucky and if its not luck or fate then you been saying your prayers. I NEVER put my bike on the road without saying a prayer 1st. Call it dumb or pointless or whatever a person thinks but it works for me!!

I googled for them and the Kriss brand seems to be the one that poppes up most. They claim to be the puoneer of "modulating head lights"?

Agreed, the bike can be made good as new, as long as you are healthy enough to ride it.

people need to check with their state's laws before using these.
here in PA they're not allowed since any type of flashing light might be confused with an emergency vehicle, or so I was told by the local LEO's...
