Thanks boys. Professor, I'll always think of you whenever I look at the front fender. Thanks for all the help you gave me man.

Gas tank is back on and has gas in it (NO LEAKS) !!!!! Fuel pump seems to be working just fine after I replaced the filter. gas gauge and gas cap are both on and painted gloss black. My paint job ain't the best but it'll get me through till I decide what to do with them.

Dash is on, gauge is mounted and all my wiring seems to be working fine. Oil light comes on when the key is in the run position and goes off after the bike turns over.

The battery is still strong. Bike fired right up after one crank. I have no leaks anywhere so I'm happy.

Waiting on this freaking rear fender is gonna be agonizing !!!!

Unless the clear coat is tinted to add richness to the colour there is no real need to add more than 2 coats, in fact it can cause issues as you are finding out. 2 coats will give then plenty of leeway to wet sand with 2500grit and polish to a high gloss glass like finish. Sounds like they're try to put too much clear on.

I work at a very large paint facility and once a year I'm pulled off my job to wet sand and polish up to 11 vehicles as show units for auto shows, we bump clearcoat by 6% to allow for sanding/polishing.

If paint becomes to thick it can be more susceptible to chipping as well

I painted my wife's bike recently with one application of clearcoat, wet sanded and polished seen here

If that is the case then it should be an easy problem to rectify.

The suspense on waiting on your final result is almost as bad as waiting on mine!

In other words..... It's driving me insane!!

Tell me about it man! I spoke to the paint shop on Friday and they told me they had sanded down the edges and it was in the booth getting re sprayed. Said it should be ready to go next week.

I told them to closely inspect it before they called me and made me drive there again. If it's not done correctly this time I'm gonna split somebody's wig when I get there !!!
