I think it may be a newer frame modified to take the Evo. What do you think? I'll probably part it out. I have new fenders on the way. Maybe I'll use them on something else someday. I know the neck has been changed. 35 degrees

Harley frames don't have "plates". Maybe it was rebuilt in 02 and issued a new VIN number ..what is it titled as?

I was just mentioning the plate because it matches the title. It was a rebuilt title in conn. It is titled as a reconstructed. Bummer! I really liked the Dyna I traded. I wanted a project so I didnt look at it much.

So do you guys think the frame is a 1998 or older? It has all newer things like the dash and ignition switch. I need to figure out how to solve this problem and do it by this riding season!

Definitely a 99 down evo...if the plate is mounted over the original VIN number you could remove it and see what the bike was before... then reinstall it.

I got a 88 softail today. I will post picutes when I get it home. I plan on swapping everything to the new frame. I talked to the guy who put together the first bike and it is supposed to have a 1450 with a cam and a 44mm carb. And a recent rear shock upgrade. I guess the forks are supposed to be gma. I don't know how that front end will look with the stock rake of a 1988

Okay so I stripped down a lot of the heritage last night. I would like to use the 88 frame and take everything off the 99 in the end. I've already noticed a few differences between the frames. I'll post picture of the differences I could see. I'm sending it for powder coating on Friday. I hope that you guys can help me become aware of the comparability issues I will run into. My fender was also a little narrower than the factory heritage rear fender.

The dash mounting appears to be different too. Since the newer one is all digital.
