Keep us posted because I am leaning that way, also. My dealer wants to put in a 254e as well. Lots of folks here say that the HD 254e is a EPA cam because its HD. They recommend andrews 48, amongst others. I have the warrantee issue to worry about as well. I have read that a cam will open up the bike, but will it give it a lope like a shovelhead, especially with fuel injection ?

Had a couple dealerships pushing the 254E when asking. One even fired up a bike to let me listen, sounded really good I thought.

You're never going to get the lope like those old bikes anymore with EFI and the Twinkie engine. Too much is different for it to work that way without harming the engine, most importantly the oil pump/oiling system.

That price is actually not bad. Didnt know there was a dynotune and tuner included.

All depends on the dealer and the relationship you have with them... Being in a state that offers year round riding and inflated prices to begin with already put you in the hole.

I took mine 7 hours away to have the Stage III done (plus home town dealership) vs the one just a few miles away and easily saved over $200 on labor alone. Pays to shop around a little if you can!

Added my cams back in 09 during the winter,
Some dealers have winter sales/specials to keep the wrench's working...

I know labor cost has went up, but not that much,, think it was $70 per hr back then..
they put in my Andrews 26h's, new lifters, new bearing, gaskets and a Free dyno after all the work was done,,

Total cost was $895 plus tax...

I already had the SERT tuner,, did that at the 1K service when I added pipes and SE/AC...
