The next thing will be to check to see if the front brake switch is getting power:

There are three connectors up near the front of the frame, just aft of the steering neck, one is for the left hand control switches, one for right hand control switches, and one for the dashboard electrics.

Find the electrical connector for the right hand switches, you can just follow the wires and you will see where they are going.

Ok, I have located it. I tested the the orange (accessory) wire with power on and I am 12 volts. The red wire is giving me nothing. When I depress the foot pedal I get 3.5 volts at the red and when I depress the hand lever I get zero volts.

Thanks

There are orange accessory wires all through those connectors, and I`m not sure which one you may be at, so...

Find the connector for the right hand switches, and on the handlebar switch side, find the orange wire, there will be only a single orange wire coming out of this connector, it is the supply to the stop lamp switch, check the voltage.

Now check the voltage on the red wire on the same side of that connector, while pulling in the front brake lever (I`m pretty sure that is what you already did, but this gets me on the same page...).

I think you have narrowed it down to the switch, but don`t condemn the switch yet, because it may just be stuck from years of grease crud bugs etc.

Here`s a link to a video on how to get at that switch (you might just try squirting some WD40 into the switch area and cycle the brake lever a bunch of times without even disassembling anything).

Remember, if you do remove the brake lever to get at the switch to follow the service manual instruction about putting a piece of cardboard over the switch to protect it from the lever as the lever is re installed.

And confirmed! bad front switch as well. tried the WD-40 and nothing. So i took it apart and the switch and it was working intermittently. After plenty of WD-40 it is still sticking and just simply touching the casing its in will cause it to activate.
