Default What do you think? $1,000 for SE Pro Super Tuner and complete dyno

The HD shop where I bought my '07 Fat Boy last year will sell me the SE Pro Super Tuner and perform a complete dyno for a grand. He said half the cost is the dyno time to make sure they get it exactly right.

Sounds like a lot, but another HD shop is charging $585 for the tuner and a canned map since they don't have a dyno.

For that kind of money the H-D dealer wants it should come with a happy ending! Try another dealer.

SESPT can be bought for about $360 online. A good dyno tuner shouldn't charge more than $300 for an entire tune.

If I were to spend $1000 I'd buy a Daytona Twin Tec Auto Tune

Nope. I'd search for an Indy within texas that you could ride to.

sounds like a lot to me. a good dyno tuner can down load a base map and tweakit in a few hours. when i had my crossbones with the stage 4 103, they tuned my bike all the way from idle to 100% throttle in about 3 hours. it was tweaked at 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, and 100% throttle. $1000 is crazy money....

To me, that's a rip off, my Indy could do the same work at a little over half that price, shop around.

total waste of money unless you plan on doing a cam upgrade or something of that nature later on down the road. Just get yourself a FP3 and save your money.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought that was kind of high myself. I guess I should have said up front that I bought the bike with the following upgrades: 103 big bore kit with 255 cam, V & H Big Radius 2 into 2, stage 1 HD download and then I had them add the SE Heavy Breather when I bought it.

A guy I ride with has an '09 SG with the 107 kit, 2 into 1 pipes, heavy breather plus a few other upgrades and he has a guy who dynos his bike w/o any tuner or download to the ECM. He had a Power Commander V on his bike when he went to get the dyno and the guy removed it and said he could a better job without it. He charges $400 for four hours and goes through the whole thing with a fine toothed comb. The guy saves his tune to a flash drive that my buddy carries on his key chain in case he needs to take it to a HD shop and have some work done, but he does most of his own work anyway.

I may just do that and not mess with any aftermarket tuner or HD ECM download.

I've had several Harley's I've put tuners in and have had them dyno tuned by a very competent Indie. That includes bikes that have had cams installed etc. Usually runs me about $600 to $650 depending whether I get a SEPST on line to give him or let him run the Techno Research unit he sells, both work great. Had the '15 Road King done a couple weeks ago.
