I still don't understand why the black out the part of the rotor that the pads contact. Makes no sense at all.

Keep the cost down primarily. Wilwood sells plain stainless too if that's what you want, and are less expensive than the black ones.

If I had those black rotors on my bike I'd never break, they look too good all black. Just Flintstone it down the road.

Probably because the parts are dipped and it would cost more to mask off the pad area, dip the rotor, then unmask the pad area.

I have a set of lyndall composite black rotors on my bike and the black doesn't wear through at all if you use the right pads. Looks good man!

Those rotors are nice but a total rip off
