FLS Softail springer front end

If you want NEW, get a Paughco. Absolutely the industry standard for quality Springers. If you want used, get a factory Springer. Now remember.... and I can't stress this enough. There's not just any old used Harley Springer. Harley made 2 Springers. An FX and an FL. They are different lengths, different rakes and the brakes are on opposite sides. Google FX Springer and then FL Springer to see the difference. As far as the cheap eBay Springers, eh.... they work, but suck. That's about all I have to say about them.

Harley made at least 3 different modern springers..maybe 4. The 88-92 FX springers had the fender mounted to the front fork and looked like a dirt bike...a couple of company's made lowering kit..but harley put a stop to it so they could sell their much more expensive kit..those kits are no longer available, so you really don't want one of those. The 93-07 FX springer mounted the fender to the rear fork and the rockers..so the fender floated up an down with the tire and looked much better. Then there was the FL springer, and the reason I say there may have been a 4th variation is the 08 up FX SE models used a variation of the FL springer...which may have had it's own rake for the 18" tire..that no other springer had.

Every other pan for sale I looked at was raised well above the frame rail, and looked all wrong, IMHO.
I also made a cover or "filler" for the rear fender that follows the curve of the fender, after moving the 'puter to the battery box, there is a large square hole that needed to be covered.
I was planning on a "hugger" swing arm mounted rear fender when I found the black Slim fender on Craigs, and since I wanted a fender mounted rear light, I chopped 6" from the rear fender, reinforced the underside and have had no problems with rear fender cracking.

Not to hijack thread... Still hungry for springer info!
Jet,
What model battery meet the needs of the slim? I'm pricing it all out now, might go with an older old bag style while I'm at it, looking at demensions of it all.
Thanks
Wayne

I made the under seat battery cover/ seat pan.

Since I don't know about Springer front ends, and come from a sport bike and Moto X background, I did a Bobber style Slim with a Stock fork. A Springer would have made it MUCH better.
Tractor Seat:
I don't care for the thick plastic covers HD sells.
I cut down the front and rear mounts from a X Bones, and by using an Earth X battery, I was able to tuck all the wires, 'puter, etc under the frame rails for a hard tail look.
'13 Slim with anti lock:
