New 16 or decked out 03
#21
I'd get the older bike if they'll come off that price. I bought an 02 Softail (carburated) and that thing is like a tank, reliable and just solid. Add on's add value if they're something that you'd do anyways just don't let the salesmen know that. A color change can cost thousands if you buy a new bike that you don't thoroughly like the color.
The newer bike will cost you more up front with sales tax, personal property taxes (if applicable) and insurance.

Road test
I just did a comparison road test between a 15 RK and Heritage. RK hands down with more power, better cornering, better riding, cruise control, etc. And I'm a Softail guy with a 11 Fatboy Lo. The testing was for my brother who was shopping while waiting for the service department to fix his 99 Dyna. I still like my Fatboy better than these new bikes but it has about 15k in things that make me happy(124"motor, Baker 7speed, improved suspension, better front brake, apes, etc) Brother ended up buying the RK and was a happy camper after our 3k mile Sturgis safari.
