You might have good luck with yours... but I have seen a lot of threads where that linkage fails... I always change them for the peace of mind...

And you do not have to pay HD prices... you can find them in ebay for less than 30.00.

I had this on my RGC CVO. Worked like a charm. Again, eBay has many different styles available. You just need to get something with heim joints...more reliable.

The stock unit that you see in my first photo...

This one:

EDIT: Found a photo of one that failed:

And another forum member reminded me that you can also just install heim joints to the stock rod...

But for about what you spend on the heim joints you can buy the complete shifter linkage from eBay and get a nicer looking one...

And here is an example of one in ebay for 26.00 shipped... like I said... no need to pay HD prices...I had a #$@%^$ moment when I put that on my parts list...

On the Sportster, I wanted tubeless wheel/tires combo just for the peace of mind... since I am taking them off the Sportster, I figured I would try them on the Slim to see how it looks. Outside of removing the rear tire from the wheel, to turn it around, there is really not much to it... well, now that I think of it, need to check the inner diameter of the bearings in the front... worse case scenario, I will have to get new bearing in the front if it is not 25mm in the Slim...

Oh, and in my case, it replaced both the RK CVO and the 48...
I recall and bookmarked a spacer you'll need to run 48 wheels on a Slim/Blackline: http://vulcanworks.net/store/Harley-...y-Spacers.html

Thank you for the link. But to be clear, these are not 48 wheels that I will be running... these are Fat Bob wheels

That I installed in a 48. So outside of checking bearing internal diameter (1" or 25mm need to check) they should fit right in...with correct spacers of course

Baby steps... can't wait for the rest of the stuff to arrive so that I can finish with these small mods...

I had a set of Get-A-Grips grips that I love to use...had them in my CVO. But got these as well with the purchase of the bike. I will give them a try and switch to the Get-a-Grip if they end up not being as comfortable...
