The one thing I didn't like about my Slim was the rear plate holder. The relocation kit that doesn't move the turn signal is ok. But has anyone tired anything else? I have a swing arm bag so that might limit my options.

The other thing I don't like it that plastic that is in front of the rear tire. I thought I saw somewhere on here that someone mentioned something about a way to replace that. The part in the HD catalog says it doesn't fit newer bikes. Has someone found something that works?

I am going to remove the side mount from my Slim and install either a vintage style Sparto tail light or tombstone tail light on the rear fender. Another easier thing to do is remove the extension off of the license plate mount and mount the plate vertically.

 

Expensive, but good quality and a good solution to the tag issue.

I been looking around at different side mount plate frames. I looked at the Kuryakyn side mount that attaches to the swing arm. But I don't know if it would work with the swing arm bag. I also found one my TC Brothers. It is an axle mount. I am curious, with an axle mount is mounted to the axle on the inside or the outside of the swing arm? And with a tail light, is there a clean way to run the wires?

I made an axle mount tag holder, fits just behind my swing arm bag.

 

We put this on my lady's Slim. Good quality and looks good. The LEDs on the plate frame lights up the back of the bike quite a bit. It's a bit over priced, but what isn't today? Are there some states that require the plate to be vertical and not at an angle? Seems like there is but ...

 

Very interested to see how that works out for you if you decide to go with the Tombstone over the Sparto.

 

I you want a "side mount" license plate, then IMHO, an axle mount is the way
to go. It doesn't have to be expensive. I had one on the LH side from
Road 6 Customs, was ~$22.00 and it works with a swingarm bag. Here's a pic;







The swingarm bag just wasn't big enough for me, so I switched it out
for a Rocker quick detach saddlebag. This required relocating the
license plate to the RH side so I used a cheap ~$30 mount I got from Ebay.
I used some CustomDynamics LEDs for platelights. Here's a pic;
