Lifter noise normal on 04 deuce with 20k miles?
Well I just got off my bike and was riding it hard and developed what I believe is lifter valve noise. Not happy with myself but is this new noise normal? Should I have it serviced or live with it? TIA

I'd say no, not normal. How long since the last oil change? Oil will break down, but it takes a lot. I think a dealer visit is probably in order..

Something to look into, whether you do it or an Indy.

Maintained correctly would mean that it was taken in for a service every year regardless of the mileage.
At least every non-Harley motorcycle I've owned has that requirement.

Unusual lifter noise is not something to neglect! 20K miles is a bit early, but if it were my bike, I would pull the trigger and perform a Cam Chain Tensioner replacement, new cam bearings, new lifters, and adjustable pushrods.
