Default Rocker C upgrade from 96ci to 103 or 110?

I want to upgrade my 08 Rocker C 96ci to a 103 or 110. I hear some cons about going to a 110 from a 96, some people says its pushing it a little. Please advise on the pros and cons. The screaming eagle catalog has a few new kits, are these worth it?

I have a stage one on it now. Im planning on getting a few estimates, one from a HD dealer, and 2 or 3 from local shops. What should I be looking for?

Thank you in advance.

Had both a 96 and a 103, the difference is not that much, you can easily check hp/tq of these engines and you'll see the gap is hardly noticeable.
So if you have to go on a larger displacement I'd suggest to go 110.
The new kit the MoCo just released is a mild setting in terms of performance, compression, etc...

Knowing what I know now, I would have done a Fuel Moto 107, or 117 when I was in your shoes a few years ago. That's ok I went the 103 route for the time being, and one day a FM motor will be had.

I would say the first question would be what's you bank account look like? 103's are less than 1/2 the price of the 110. With either kit there's so much left on the table if you don't change the peripherals like heads, cams, exhausts, intakes, clutches, etc. I'm wanting to try the new 110 kit but already have the above upgrades getting ready for a 107 kit. Now to justify the extra cash for the unproven 110 kit that is being offered.

I received one estimate today...but it looks like a lot of parts for what I want, but I also don't have a lot of experience with this type of things...so far I have done external upgrades, pipes, breather, mirrors, etc.

I already have a Power vision tunner, so no need for this item.

Here are a couple of pictures of the items on the first estimate.

You might as well get a S&S 124" hot set up kit.

Labor costs will be the same as your current quotes and the quality of parts will be a lot higher.

I see what you are saying...but I'm trying not to break the bank

I would like to keep it under $3K.

I got the HD estimate today... I will upload numbers later.

Thanks.

You need to get Fuel Moto's 107 kit (cylinders, heads, cams, pistons, etc) and you can keep in your budget if you do the work yourself)

Something is definitely wrong if you are getting quotes under 3k with all the parts and labor involved. Just to give you an idea, I am using the Darkhorse price sheet:
  • Service crankshaft w/ balance: 495-
  • Weld crankpin 29.95
  • Weld counterbalance sprocket 10-
  • Center 07-up OEM sprocketshaft 99-
  • Twincam Timken bearing upgrade 325-
  • Bore cases for bigger bore cylinders 295-
Total without shipping, insurance and extra labor: 1253.95

That is over 1/3 of your budget and removing the engine from the frame, engine tear down & rebuild labor costs are not included.
