Default Heritage weight limit

How important is it to stay under the weight limit allowance that is in the owners manual. I weigh 225 and my wife is 250, so that puts us over what the manual says we can weigh. I don't want to hurt the wife's feelings and say she cannot ride with me because she weighs to much, but I don't want to put us in danger either.

I'm at 250 and my wife at 150 and we have a tourpak and rack (+15?), a fairing with stereo (+25?), one saddle bag has a tool pouch (+10?) and one saddle bag has rain gear and portable chairs (+15?). Add another 10 .lbs for the cooler and 8 beers in the tourpak and we are pretty much sitting where you're at.

We have absolutely no issues whatsoever.
I'm sure you're just fine.

I'm 280 and my wife is 150ish and we've been riding my 2006 Springer Softail for years with no issues. As a matter of fact before we started our "big diet" year before last, I was at 335 and she was 200ish (don't tell her I told you that) hahaha. I think you'll be fine.

Maybe look into new shocks for the rear. If the front is bottoming out also when you hit a bump then look into new fork springs.

Good advice, although adjusting the preload on the rear shocks may suffice in advance of any upgrades.

Also, ensure your tire pressures are set to the upper limit.

Bottoming out may be your biggest concern on bad roads. She will let you know if that is the issue!

We have never bottomed the shocks out. I just wanted to make sure that there wasn't any big safety concerns with being over what the manual says we are supposed to carry on the bike.
