Gunnysgt,

If you don't mind educating me, what was the canvas cover on the windshield used for?

The windshields were pretty short then so the canvas cover was attached to the windshield frame below the windshield to provide extra protection from the cold weather. Here's a pic of an original one.

The gas tank on the WLA was split then. The flathead was only 45 cu inch (750 cc) I believe the right side was actually an oil tank on those. The split tanks on my '52 pan were 5 gal total. Someone else may chime in if that is not correct about the WLA

From memory my WLA was 3 1/2 gallons, as Gunny says the oil tank on the other side took up a bit of space.

Here's stage 2 of the WLA Apron project. All I need to do now is have an upholstery shop trim the bottom edges to the curve of the shield and sew it. Next is the matching crash bar lowers. got all the supplies but will have to have someone sew it together. Haven't decided yet if I wanna stencil "Military Police" or something on the apron in standard stencil lettering.

That looks great. I am really liking the extra-mile stuff you are doing. Excellent restraint on keeping the mods relevant to the concept.

FWIW, the copper lines will look odd by themselves, or send you down a copper accent rabbit-hole. If you take them off, just thoroughly clean them in parts-washing solution, then with Prep-All. Sand them the best you can, and use self-etching primer before your paint of choice. I'd suggest black VHT 2000 degree graphite because of the variations between internal and external temperature delta.

Now why would you want people disliking you before you even get off the bike?

Thats going to look great when its all done.

I'm still undecided on an air cleaner for mine so I decided to pull the cover off & run it like it is, will prob get a K&N replacement filter & one of their covers, but i quite like the look of it (industrial) looking.
