The Samsons are just as loud as the V&H, the nice thing about the V&H is that you can get the quiet baffle and that will take a lot of the sharpness out, then add the W118 and that will deepen the tone even more. If you want to dampen the volume even more, then a W158 will do the trick.

You can do the same thing with the Samsons, just wrap some matting around the baffle in combo with the TTI's and it will quiet down quite a bit.

Both Samson and V&H are decent exhaust systems. You can argue all day long which is better. Each have their following.

One main advantage of Samson over V&H is the lengths offered. V&H only has a 28.5" fishtail and it's only available in chrome only. That's it. Samson has 23", 28.5" 33", 36" and 39" lengths available in chrome or black finish.

The main disadvantage of Samson (putting wait times aside), as Kevin of DK Custom fame noted, is the angled shifter rod that is required. The upside is that Samson includes the shifter rod with their exhaust.

This! I had the 36 inch fishtails with baffles, 36 inch fishtails without baffles. I have the 39 inch cholos on my other softail non baffled, and currently 33 inch non baffled on my Heritage. Samson's Fit, finish, and qaulity are top notch and the variety of sizes is huge plus.

Anyone know of a set of fishtails that come as a muffler of a larger diameter than the head pipe exhaust?

I purchased some knock off slip ons a while back and had a muffler shop open the diameter a bit.

Word of warning: I just bought a set of 33" Samson true dual fishtail exhaust. I opened the box, this morning, and both brackets and the shifter rod were missing. Needless to say, I tried calling them, and they must be closed for Thanksgiving. Dennis Kirk is trying to help me out. So,hopefully, this will get resolved, in a timely manner. But, it's bullshit, they should work on inspecting product before they ship it. Crazy, man.

Do you know if the Bassani will work with factory shifter and inner primary cover?

I didn't have to change the shifter when I installed mine. There is quite a bit of space between the exhaust and primary so I don't see why it wouldn't work if you have a cover on it

Thanks for the info. Called Mark at MandM Cycle. Very nice and helpful. He had nothing but good things to say about Bassani
