In time the little rubber bushings will compress/wear, and the job will get easier. Later on the bushings will wear enough to allow the windshield to rattle. Then it will be time for new bushings. And so it goes.

pccoder.... Question about the parts you used.

I just bought one of these same shields from a friend of mine that didn't want it anymore. However, he wanted to keep the docking hardware on his bike in case he got something else. So I need to buy the docking hardware that goes on the bike ('15 Softail Deluxe) and I'm curious which parts you actually used.

I'm guessing from the instructions and the attached diagram that the only parts you installed on the bike are items 20, 21, 22 and 23. Is that correct? It looks like items 24 and 25 are only used for bikes without passing lights (which mine has).

Just looking for confirmation from you before I order those parts since you recently did this install ... or from anyone else that can provide insight. Thanks in advance.

Exactly. Those metal spacers confused me at first. I didn't install them, as I have the 3 lights (headlight and 2 coach lights / passing lights).

Like all Harley instructions, they suck. But good product nonetheless.

So I ordered the docking hardware I needed to mount the used H-D Nostalgic shield I bought from a friend of mine and just had to laugh at what $52 buys you from the MoCo.... 4 screws, 4 rubber bushings and 4 flat washers. You gotta love it.

Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've spent twice what something is worth from H-D and it surely won't be the last.

yep, that's the right stuff. And it gives you that warm, reach around feeling, knowing you paid so much for so little.

You have it all wrong. You paid $52 for the bag the stuff came in. The screws, bushings and washers were FREE ! You lost money by not buying two sets of each.

You might be right. The bag was the only thing I brought home with the bar & shield on it.
