Gettin old & ok with it
Yesterday my biz partner and I rode about 100 miles...to a new shop in our area and back.
Me on my Heritage, him on his Stage IV Street Glide Special. I'm 57 and he's 29.
I was quite content at 60-65 on the back roads, and 75-85 on the interstate.
More than a couple of times I was doing 80 and he passed me like I was standing still...once on the back roads I lost sight of him, and when I did see him, 10 minutes later, he was on the side of the road, stopped, fiddling (probably texting) with his phone. lol
I thinks it's age a bit, PLUS, I just really enjoy cruising on the Softail. Whatever the reason, I have less of an urge to tear up the road than I used to...and I'm ok with it.

You are just matured! I remember my Hayabusa 300km/h days... Now I ride 100 - 110 km/h (60 -65 mph) and I'm enjoying the ride much more! I'm relaxed, can enjoy the scenery, feel safer and know there are no traffic fines in the mail... I just enjoy this so much more!
But then I'm 61.... :-)
Ps: You may have had some ego issue had your biz partner been a she!! :-)

Lol, that story just made me think of Cat Stevens' song....
"...
I was once like you are now
And I know that it's not easy
To be calm when you've found
Something going on
But take your time, think a lot
Why, think of everything you've got
For you will still be here tomorrow
But your dreams may not
...
It's not time to make a change
Just sit down, take it slowly
You're still young, that's your fault
There's so much you have to go through
Find a girl, settle down
If you want, you can marry
Look at me
I am old, but I'm happy!

The physical barriers associated with aging are real enough but so is the transformation of a person's sense of novelty. I get as much a kick now out of guiding, teaching, coercing, threatening,,, ,, young folks I can influence to exceed my meager accomplishments while committing fewer mistakes. "Its a challenge" .
