Default Oil Dipstick Temp Gauge

I was going to buy the white-faced dial dipstick temperature gauge from HD (in the link below) but they said they get a lot of returns on them. The parts chick said I'd be better off buying a digital LCD unit but I really wanted an "old-school" looking white-faced gauge for my bike.

I'm sure many of you guys can give some feedback on this gauge. Is it crap or is there something similar out there that is of better quality? Again.... I don't want anything LCD or with blinking lights etc...

I have that same one and have not had any problems with it. It's been on the bike probably 3 years.

I have the same gauge and have pretty good luck with it. Eventually the plastic lens broke, so I bought a new one (same type). The first one lasted well over six or seven years. I like the look and I can just glance at it while riding. No buttons to push.

I've had a couple on my bike over the last 6 or 7 years. The first one started getting loose in the hole after about 3 or 4 years. I had a HD gift certificate to use up so I bought another one to replace it. It's been on there since with no problems

I've heard more horror stories about the digital ones crapping out, kinda surprised the parts guy said the opposite.

I have mine for 8 years with no problems. Just make sure you clean the rubber seal when you re-insert it so it stays put.

In fact I have one I bought from J&P sitting on a shelf somewhere just like it. If I can find it, you can have it. Doesn't have a H-D logo on it but it works.
EDIT: I did find it if you want it.
