Default 21" Ultima king spoke wheel line up

I installed a 21" Ultima king spoke wheel. My question is this... The wheel uses a 1 inch axle, and i purchases 3/4 axle inserts for my 03 fatboy to make the wheel work with the axle. Each insert adds maybe an extra 1/8 of an inch to the outside of the bearing. Because of this, plus the factory wheel spacers the caliper now wants to bind up when tightened down completely. Now i know i can shim the caliper to make it work, but my question is wouldn't it be better to measure the width of each axle insert and take that amount off the factory spacer? Anyone experience anything like this with the ultima wheel, or using 3/4 axle inserts. Thanks for the help

Your easiest solution is to remove the inserts and the 1" bearings and install the 3/4" bearing that should be in it for your bike. Then everything will line up like its supposed to.

Yes, typically you would remove the "reducer" flange thickness dimension from your existing spacers.

I'm curious...you say approx 1/8"...can you get an exact dimension?

Confirm that the installed 1" are 21mm wide (approx 13/16")...no precision here

If so, you can replace the bearings with 3/4" HD#9267 or aftermarket "All ***** Racing" or from Drag Specialties. let me know if you need a part#s

Called Ultima, if you put in 3/4 bearings you have to have the hub custom milled, that is why they offer the axle reducers from 1 inch to 3/4. I measured the reducers and the thickness is .149. After talking with a custom motorcycle shop here in town they also recommend cutting down the stock wheel spacers to make up for the added length of the reducers. Thanks for the input guys.

Great...continue on.

As a side note ...that part about needing the hub milled is BS. You can put 3/4" in there

But I am curious about the width...is it approx 13/16"?

Really Ultima said it wouldn't work, that's ridiculous... well I'm going to cut down the spacers as that seems to work too. If it dosnt then I'll just get new spacers and press in new 3/4 bearings.

No its .149 which is a bit over 9/64 per side. That is the length of the axle reducer that is sticking outside of the bearing
