Default stupid only filter

Hi all: My weekend adventure was to change the oil in my 2008 FLSTF. However the top of the HD oil filter rounded off in the filter removal tool. Several screwdriver holes later I had the filter off. I still had one more HD filter to I put that on temporarily.

I know K&N makes a filter that can be removed with a socket and ratchet, are they any good?

The K&N is what I've been running the last three oil changes, WAY easier than the old school one.

Just changed mine last night. K&N much easier. 17mm nut on it. Also use the little orange funnel thingy under the oil filter to help direct oil into pan. Works well.

metal strap loop oil filter wrench, or long pliers-type of wrench. removes everything. But I just changed mine out to the FLO billet reusable filter which has a hex nut on it.

Just to add. I found the HiFlo filters to be cheaper than K&N when I did my last change. From what I understand, HiFlo makes the K&N filters, so pick the better deal.

Putting on the filters a bit looser helps to prevent stripping them out on removal. They do not really need to be that tight.

Put a little fresh oil on the new filter gasket and turn until it's hand tight only.

Mine came with flo billet. Looks cool. Is reusable and takes a regular socket to get it off.
