it will not fold past the same angle even without the spring clip. I installed the spring the clip properly, with the flat edge towards the bike and mount.

took it to Richmond Harley davidson and steel horse harley davidson and was turned away being told my mounts must be different, yet my buddy who has a 2007 FXSTC softail custom has them on his.

im stumped.

 

Maybe those pegs you have are for a different model? They could look the same from the top but the mount ends may be different?

 

It's the proper model. We checked it three times, service tech at the dealership can't mount them either.
