Default Xieds and dealer download?

2007 FLSTC

I have aftermarket slip on exhaust and a stage 1 air cleaner kit. I will not be do anymore performance type upgrades.

I installed xieds since I had the popping on deceleration and wasn't running smooth the bike runs very rough now, unable to ride it as it will not stay running. Dealer said I need a download so I am going to go ahead and get that done. Should I remove the xieds then or will it not hurt anything to keep them on?

Did you try take them off and see how the bike runs? And yes i would take them off before you take it to the dealers since ypur have that issue.. See how it runs without them.

Remove them and then reinstall after the download so that the ECU will relearn- adjust to the new air fuel ratio. Did this on my 2007 Ultra that ran so hot I could barely ride it when I got it. 2007 was the 1st year for closed loop O2 sensors and Harley really did not have it all worked out properly. Early 2007s made and delivered in late summer- early fall often had air/fuel ratios as high as 16.5 to 1.

Will actually be trying that this morning and see if there is a difference.

The XIED's are usually instead of a dealer download or other tuner. They enriched the mixture. Once you have the download done the bike should run better and you can sell the XIED.
Have you considered buying a Vance and Hines FP3 and do it yourself? I have Vance and Hines slip ons and the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 breather with the FP3 and it runs great.

What he said...

I started with the dealer's download when they installed my V&H pipes and S&S air cleaner for free (I bought them there).
Big mistake...
The bike ran a little better but the engine/oil temps increased dramatically and the decel pop was damn near unbearable.
Then I tried the XiED's.
They did the job and worked as advertised, but I was never crazy about the full-time piggyback install.
I always knew a good tuner would be the next step.
Then V&H came out with the FP3.
The initial reviews were off the charts so I dove in.
Now I'd have to say it's just about the best $$ I spent on my Slim...

Oil temps dropped, it runs smoother, more power from top to bottom and decel pop is just a distant memory.
It even sounds better...

A dealer download is a fixed/basic/canned map specifically designed to use in conjunction wen installing aftermarket parts designed by HD for a specific application. They are also set up to conform with EPA requirements. While a HD Download may get you "closer" to where you want to be, it is in no way "perfect"

I am thinking of the FP3, but when I go to their webite it says a FP3 is not available for my year and model.

A local mc shop said they can hook up to the computer and adjust the air mixture to make the bike run better for half the price of Harley. I am a little leery about that though, thinking it is not the same as the Harley download.

The new FP3 part #66007 for 2007-2013 bikes is available for pre-order with Revzilla, supposed to start shipping end of May, I'm waiting on one for my 09 Rocker. I use one on my BO and love it!! I'm currently running Xieds and a HD download on the Rocker and the tune is far from good...

I Have the fp3 and yes its been that good. If I were you I would wait for the fp3 for your model bike to come out, Don't waste your time and money with the dealer download. Just my 2cts
