I've used an impact wrench, came off easy. If you don't have an impact wrench, heat it up as much as you can; one of those 800 or more degree heat guns works well, softens the high strength locktite that nut is supposed to have on it. Some guys use propane torches, but I don't like flaming that area. One of those tiny pencil torches might work ok. It's probably the locktite, not the torque, that is so difficult to break loose, especially if whoever put it on poured on all the locktite that wouldn't drip off. A couple drops is sufficient.

great idea with the heat gun! i do have an impact gun it just wasn't doing anything. if the heat gun doesn't work then i am going to have a buddy bring an induction heat coil and snap on super gun from work.

Harley manuals always state not to use impact tools when working on your bike. I took mine off with nothing more than a breaker bar. Didn't need heat or anything.

Is that for disassembly, or for assembly?

My bike's previous owner had apparently used a whole tube of red locktite on it. I had a helper (wife) stand on the rear brake pedal, and then put some 'persuasion' on the socket wrench. It took a pretty fair amount of effort the first time I did it.

long pipe for leverage on breaker bar worked for me a few different times even when an impact, and heat wouldn't.
