Default Softail battery life.

A beautiful day here, still a tad cool but perfect riding weather for me. So, I goes out to start it and go for a little ride and much to my dismay, my battery gave me one big grunt and then it just pooped out on me.

I can't or won't complain though. My bike is an 06, high compression and its the original battery! I would say 10 years on a battery, the original battery, is pretty darn good!!!

Better battery of peoples choice? Any other out there with similar battery stories?

It also pooped out right here in my own garage rather then out in the country somewhere leaving me stranded. Its a good day to be a biker!!!

Long time no see man .. for me.. given the crazy toronto weather, I get only 3 years, but I am hoping my new battery tender will change that

I'm working on 7 years on my original softail battery. Always rides lasting a minimum of 45 minutes and ALWAYS removed from the bike, and stored inside a heated space on a battery tender, over the course of our long Vermont winters.

3-4 years on my last 2 Heritages. They set next to hot oil tank and in a confined space. I installed a Big Crank brand last time. I think it was $93 shipped, no tax and higher amps then the OEM

Just replaced my original on my '08 yesterday. Bike sleeps in my garage. Not heated, but 30 is about as cold as it gets inside the garage in winter. I always tender it if it's not ridden for 2 weeks or more. Went with a Duralast from Autozone as it was the most convenient and I wanted to ride yesterday. Cost $103 though. For what I got, I prob could have saved $40 by going to Walmart. For the results people seem to get with the high dollar batteries I couldn't justify that route. $250+ and only 3 years seems to be the avg I have read/heard about. In my experience with vehicle batteries if you maintain them properly they will last 6-12 years on a typical battery. With that, I can't see an advantage to spending more when I can fit the stock size.

The stock battery that was in my 05 Springer lasted about 8 1/2 years.

I got 4 years out of mine. If you got 10, I would say you got your moneys worth out of that one.

Before I started hooking my Blackline up on a tender, it lasted 18 months. Now, I keep it hooked up on my Breakout. It can't hurt...
