2012 FLSTC Gas Cap Issue
OK....I have had Harleys before and never had this type of trouble. I can't get the gas cap off.... What is the trick if there is one to getting the gas cap off a Heritage. I can screw it closed and it clicks however when I unscrew it to where it stops, it does not come off, and I am pulling up pretty hard. Is this a test, if so I _____'ing failed.....
Help....

Thanks guys! Well, lets see...I have had a lot of motorcycles, mostly Yamahas and Harleys. However it had been a while for me with a Harley. Yet I had never had a gas cap issue with any of them....even the 2010 FXSTC Softail custom I had. (And I think that had the same type of gas cap!)
Anyway, when I turned the gas cap to open it about 3/4 or more of a turn from tight, it would stop. At that point, I tried to pull it up and it would not come up. So, I went back out and tried to pull it up again and it was still stuck there. So I tried to turn it more with more force and bingo...it unscrewed all the way and came right off like it was suppose to. It actually is a bit tighter that I thought it should be to unthread and the point between where it clicks to show it is tight and where it loosens easily until it actually starts unthreading is a lot more than I realized. So, live and learn.
Gosh, I bet I have had over 25+ different motorcycles so far (am 61 now) and have never had a gas cap stump me! It's funny now, but I guess the 2012 Heritage gas cap is a slight bit tighter and a different design maybe. Anyway, all is good most of the embarrassment has subsided for now anyway...
LOL!!!
Have a good weekend everyone
