It is supposed to come with a spacer that goes between the filter and the cover. And it is also supposed to come with a new bolt and washer.

Call them and tell em' you need the spacer, bolt and washer. It fits when you put it all together.
Thanks , will do

So what is the major difference between this and a K &N filter?

That is not the right part. The 2016 heritage requires the newer version that comes with a shaped filter so the stock cover fits over it perfectly. Perhaps the original poster doesn't have the correct part for a 2016?

Here is the link to the right part:

OP, what is the part number on the Ness package you have?

You need part number 18-441 (chrome), 18-440 (natural), or 18-442 (black) for your bike. If you did not order one of these three air cleaners you do not have the proper one...

Thanks for the replies, the last 2 posts are correct. Just got off the phone with Arlen Ness and they said I need the shaped filter in order to use the OEM cover, and that is part # 18-441. Thank you all for the info.

I received and installed the 18-441 on my Heritage. It worked just fine with the stock air cleaner cover.

With the V&H Slip-Ons and a remap via FuelPak3, all seems to be working well.
